Game Shows Up for a 2016 Emmy

Jeopardy! is once again on the list of Emmy nominees for Outstanding Game Show. America’s favorite quiz show already holds the Guiness World Record for most Emmys won by a game show. You can see photos of Alex Trebek accepting the award at the 2005 ceremony. Since that time, Jeopardy’s Emmy haul has risen to 32 and Trebek himself went into the Guinness records when he reached the 6,829 hosting point.

Here are all the nominees for Outstanding Game Show

  • Jeopardy!
  • Let’s Make a Deal
  • Monopoly Millionaires’ Club
  • The Price is Right
  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Unfortunately, Trebek was not nominated in the Outstanding Game Show Host category, although he is still outstanding in our book and particularly in this season, when he returned to work as soon as he could walk with a cane after a full knee replacement.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has also announced that the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmys will not be televised due to some sponsorship issues. The ceremonies will be held on May 1st, 2016 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites.

I think it’s silly to call a category Outstanding Younger Actor/Actress; there’s no Outstanding Older Actor/Actress. And why not just use “Young” instead of “younger?”

Then again, Hollywood is a silly institution, imo.
