Final Jeopardy: 11-26 to 11-30-18

Here are the Final Jeopardy questions and answers for the week of November 26 through November 30, 2018.

Mon, Nov 26 – Correct answers: 1
AMERICAN AUTHORS: The 1877 novel “Garth”, about a New Hampshire family cursed by an ancestor’s crime, is by Julian, son of this novelist
show

Tue, Nov 27 – Correct answers: 0
ACTRESSES: In 1997 she became the first to win an Oscar for a film directed by her husband; her brother-in-law produced the film show

Wed, Nov 28 – Correct answers: 2 (out of 2 left in FJ)
HISTORICAL FIRSTS: In a tribute with no precedent, the band played this at the Buckingham Palace changing of the guard on Sept. 13, 2001 show

Thu, Nov 29 – Correct answers: 0
CATHOLICISM: A liturgical year begins on the first Sunday of Advent, which is the Sunday closest to the feast day of this “first apostle” show

Fri, Nov 30 – Correct answers: 0
THE OLD WEST: On Oct. 27, 1881 this town’s local newspaper reported on “a day when blood flowed as water” show

We rated Wednesday’s the easiest clue of the week. Surely that would have been a triple solve if the champ had made it to Final Jeopardy! that day. Even though there were 3 triple stumpers, we thought that the Catholicism FJ was the hardest. The brother of the answer is usually No. 1 on most 12 apostle lists, for one thing. An additional hint would have been helpful.

Jeopardy! champs for the week of November 26, 2018

J Cheema was the returning champ on Monday but was defeated by Dylan Hamilton. He won again on Tuesday but lost to Adriana Ciccone on Wednesday. Adriana likewise won another game but lost on Friday to Elizabeth Goss. Adriana had the top payout and that got her on the list below.

3/15 or 20% in FJ. Are the FJs getting tougher or the players weaker?
There were 3 difficult FJ imo (Mo,Tu,Th), yet the 2 “easy” ones were kind of split. Wed got us 2 (possibly 3 if we had all 3 players), yet Fri was a big disappointment. I really don’t know anyone who does not know about that (even younger people who were not around when the movie was released and never saw it later either) and J players have to go through tests , mock games…. This flop was inexplicable.
Bridget got Monday’s clue. Unfortunately for her she was nowhere near striking distance. Sometimes the results and responses in FJ are REALLY strange to say the least, but I guess that’s one of the many reasons why J is so popular. Aside of course from the fact that you learn something new at every game. You never know all the answers. And sometimes you are convinced that X is the right answer, but then it turns out it’s Y. And you would have sworn on a stack of bibles that you were right….Educational! Fun! Rooting for a player! And just sometimes you enjoy gloating…..That’s human nature I guess. I wonder how many correct out of 15 we’ll get next week, gotta be more than just 3.
I hope everybody is enjoying the weekend, stay safe and have fun!
