So, yes! We had two triple solves this week and no triple (or even double) stumpers. We vote for Tuesday’s FJ as the easiest of the week. None of them were killer hard though, were they?

We saw 4 champs this week. Dean Meyer won on Monday sending returning 2x champ Josh Silverman home. Robert Arrowood defeated Dean on Tuesday and Dennis Golin beat him on Wednesday. That day Dennis had the highest single day total of the week and things looked pretty promising after another win on Thursday, but Sean Anderson won Friday’s game.

Nevertheless, Dennis provided us with some fun moments. Okay, the Metternich thing probably wasn’t that amusing to everyone but it did yield a made-up quote that we just have to immortalize below.* The DD crash and burn on Friday was really a bummer but, in between, there was the hilarious “herb” moment.

* I did not look a darned bit like Grigory Potemkin ~ Klemens von Metternich

No, Tuesday’s wasn’t the easiest for me, as it’s not my genre of novel, and I wasn’t in the US yet then for it to be in my radar. And the rest of the week just sucked for me in FJ.

Civil War Battles, don’t know much about it (really, don’t care who fought who(m) and where).
Flowers, bombed—can’t name flowers and trees to save my life.

Prime Meridian—an academic clue I should have known, but went the wrong way and didn’t get to Algeria

The only FJ that saved me was on Monday; I’m an Almodóvar fan so Penélope Cruz came easily to me and Bardem followed, not that I knew they were married.

Sheesh! I hate FJ weeks like that.
