WHAT IS DOVER?

Dover in Kent County, England is located on the country’s southeast shore of the English Channel, only 21 miles from France’s nearest point. The Port of Dover is the busiest passenger port in the entire U.K., serving over 11 million passengers annually. Dover is also famous for its White Cliffs, a landmark that can be seen from the coast of France on a clear day.

Historically, it is connected to Dover, Delaware’s state capital through William Penn, who was granted lands that became Delaware and Pennsylvania by England’s King Charles II to repay the King’s debt to Penn’s father. From Delaware.gov: “Less than a year after assuming control of the Delaware counties, William Penn ordered the establishment of an inland town on the St. Jones River. He named this proposed town ‘Dover,’ after the English port city….”

Fun fact: 16-year-old William Penn was among the crowd in Dover, England that watched King Charles II’s return from exile in 1660.

Maya thought it was York. She lost $1,030 and finished with $3,370.

Jackson got it right. He bet $10,000 and that brought him up to $24,000.

Justin went with Annapolis. He lost $4,831 and finished with $13,570. These scores will be added to tomorrow’s final scores to determine the winner of the 2023 High School Reunion Tournament.

I got FJ wrong. I said “Manchester”, forgetting completely that Concord is the capital, and Manchester being only the largest city.

  2. Collin says:

I think Jackson Jones will win the Tournament tomorrow because he has a lot of money in the first game of the finals.

The opening of the show gave us spoilers after the introductions.

Richard, Thanks for posting your observation. I thought I was imagining I saw that. If it happens again tomorrow night I will be highly upset. I’m surprised the editing crew didn’t catch that.

      • VJ says:

Rhonda, after Mayim finished talking in the beginning of the show, they showed the panel and the final scores were displayed. We don’t even watch that part so we didn’t see it but I just looked at my DVR recording and sure enough, there it was!

        • rhonda says:

Thanks for telling me, VJ, I don’t watch that part either so I was curious, I’ll take a look at my recording now, too!

      • Jacob Ska says:

Rhonda, I’m just reading your post. Glad you’ll get to see it. I hope it doesn’t happen tonight. Such sloppy work. I’ll just turn my head away until the categories are announced by Mayim. Btw, there are comments all over the Internet about it. So I guess it was seen in all markets.
