Mon, June 5 – Correct answers: 2
ACRONYMS: It was originally a code word used by telegraph operators; Barack Obama used it in his Twitter handle show

Tue, June 6 – Correct answers: 2
HISTORIC ORGANIZATIONS: A senator called the 1949 pact that formed this a “fraternity of peace” that “makes the obligation plain… for us & others” show

Wed, June 7 – Correct answers: 2
EUROPEAN COUNTRIES: Of all the nations that border Italy, the one that didn’t exist in 1990 show

Thu, June 8 – Correct answers: 1
BUSINESS HISTORY: What is dubbed “the world’s first initial public offering” took place in 1602 in this current European capital show

Fri, June 9 – Correct answers: 1
BRITISH NOVELS: Midway through this 1928 novel, the title character briefly takes “their” instead of his or her show

The scales tipped in favor of 2 right this week when 3 of the games went that way in FJ! The other 2 games each had one right response. In terms of how often we see these responses on the show, I would say that Thursday’s Business History company shows up often enough that those who watch the show regularly, and/or study J-Archive, shouldn’t even have to think about it. The British Novel response, on the other hand, does not show up that much.

Jeopardy! champs, week of June 5, 2023

Jared Watson played and won his third game on Monday. On Tuesday, he lost to Suresh Krishnan. Lucky Suresh won 2 more games from second place and then, he ran away with Friday’s game. Jared had the biggest single payday. Suresh’s 4-day total is a dollar short of a $54K. Suresh will be looking to punch his ticket to the next Tournament of Champions on Monday.

Here is the “90s Kid” category from Wednesday’s game.
