Mon, April 17 – Correct answers: 1

Tue, April 18 – Correct answers: 3
THE OSCARS: Born in 1932 & the son of a percussionist in the CBS Radio Orchestra, he’s been nominated for 53 Oscars show

Wed, April 19 – Correct answers: 0
LIVES OF THE POETS: At a seminary that classified students’ degree of faith, Emily Dickinson was “without” this, which she compares to a bird in a poem show

Thu, April 20 – Correct answers: 0
MODERN WORDS: Neal Stephenson coined this word in his 1992 novel “Snow Crash”; it was later shortened by a company to become its new name show

Fri, April 21 – Correct answers: 2
HISTORIC GROUPS: Originally a term for security escorts for commanders, in 27 B.C. this group was designated an official imperial force show

This week we had 2 triple stumpers and one triple solve. They were bookended by Monday’s clue with one right and Friday’s with two right. The Oscars clue was obviously the easiest. I’d vote the Modern Words clue as the hardest. In fact, it was odd that two responses were words that have been around for centuries and the other was a German loanword.

Jeopardy! champs, week of April 17, 2023

It was an unusual week as 3x champ Ben Chan was unable to return for his 4th game. I’ll have to wait till the week of May 15th to see how much Ben will add to the $69,001 he has won so far. Monday’s game had 3 new players and Daniel Ciarrocchi was the winner. He went home on Tuesday when Deb Bilodeau prevailed. Deb lost to Devin Lohman on Wednesday. Emma Hill Kepron won both games on Thursday and Friday. She’ll be back on Monday to help Ken kick off his last week of hosting the regular games.

Here is the category “HOROSCOPE” from Tuesday’s game.
