I agree with Kathy. The staff allows Imodio to bend, if not completely break, rules by which all other contestants must abide. I have timed a few of his questionable responses and, I believe, it appears that he has been given leeway not afforded past participants. It’s difficult enough to play someone who has the advantage of familiarity (with the set). Why “handcuff” the newbies trying to unseat the champ? Shouldn’t they be afforded a level field?

Here’s a way to prove that omitting the leading article has long been accepted: search on “leading article” on J-Archive and you will find a whole page full of clues going back to 1985 where it’s been allowed.
1985-09-12 “DANCE” SONGS $500: “Men Without Hats” should have worn hard hats to sing this ’84 hit — there’s a notation above “The Safety Dance” that says “Richard did not give the leading article in the song title and neither did Alex”
I think it would be a lot harder to make a case on the “more specific” type of response unless one can find the game where half a response was accepted vs. the game were half a response elicited a “be more specific” request
THE was specifically excluded a few years ago as a requirement for the answer .
Why – Because otherwise you might stumble in using “the” twice.

I am happy to see matt winning once again. He is so humble I tell you and also speaking of pegasus, there is a novel called Pegasus in space though I am not sure if any of you here have heard of it @Rhonda and @Vj? Pegasus is also in the animated series Beyblade Metal series aside from being used in mythology. I think Matt might just be able to tie with James Holzhauer and maybe go after Ken’s streak now.

Comments here calling Matt “humble” and “gracious”. I have to say he’s anything but. He’s an arrogant person who continually mocks the spirit of the game by saying “What’s” to every response.The response in a question-format is what sets J! apart from other quiz shows. Therefore, the question should be properly worded. Otherwise it just shows total disrespect for this beautifully crafted show. And disrespect is what this conceited menace shows by giving responses like “What’s Churchill?” or “What’s Roosevelt?” It’s shameful that no one on the crew had the sense to pull him aside very early on in his run and knock some sense in his head.
Another thing pointed out by someone else yesterday, he refuses to say “make it a true daily double”. Mayim has been saying it for him the past few games. That remark adds to the game experience for watchers, but saying it is somehow beneath this person. Shameful!

Wow, could you be any more angry and judgemental toward a person you know nothing about in regard to a game show? Relax, enjoy the game and more importantly, for heaven’s sake, choose your battles.
He’s still asking a question, not a huge deal. Lots of people don’t say “true daily double” either.

@klm, I honestly don’t see anything arrogant about Matt based on the things you have brought up. These little eccentricities that some contestants adopt have been going on for years now… joke answers, saying anything other than “true Daily Double”, not using the leading article (a, an, the). In other words, it’s nothing new, except for this time around, Mayim likes to say “true Daily Double” after Matt doesn’t. I find that most amusing.
I just took a look at #jeopardy on Twitter where there’s an insane amount of tweets complaining about “what’s” even though the show itself has addressed this. It makes me wonder if there can be that many new viewers tuning in these days. Long-time viewers really should know that saying “what’s” is answering in the form of a question.
I have also noticed that he doesn’t give full answers giving alot of last names and leaving out the first names that in past would never have counted as a correct answer. It is like they are deliberately insuring his winning streak.
I’m pretty sure last names always counted as correct answers on Jeopardy. Just my opinion but in today’s world of social media and social scrutiny I don’t think a program as well received as Jeopardy would ever deliberately ensure someone’s victory.
