WHAT IS RHODE ISLAND?

TouchstoneTruth.com is a blog written by Michael Alan Prestwood about Roger Williams, his 10th great-grandpa. He writes extensively about his ancestor’s firm beliefs in religious freedom and how, after being exiled from the Massachusetts Bay Colony because of them, Williams went on to establish Providence Plantations, a colony that welcomed all faiths and later became the State of Rhode Island.

The sections specifically relating to today’s FJ note that the First Baptist Church of Providence, Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1638 and is the oldest Baptist church in America. Although Jewish settlers were welcomed to the colony of Rhode Island as early as 1655, it was not until December 2, 1763 that members of the Jewish community of Newport, Rhode Island dedicated the Touro Synagogue, the first in America.

Amdé bet everything that the correct response was “Providence, Rhode Island.” That was true about the Baptist church but the synagogue was in Newport so he lost all his money.

Gabbie got it right. She added $1,799, bringing her up to $8,999.

Matt also got it right. He bet a big $25,000 and won the game with $67,800. Matt’s 19-day total is $642,601, a very memorable way to start the new season.

We are one-fifth of the way through the thankfully brief reign of Mike Richards as host of JEOPARDY! as of this game played and aired.

This is a great way to start the season off with another win for Matt amodio. He seems to be favoring the daily doubles and is quick on the buzzer today. Good guess by amde but still though I’ve frequented to Rhode Island with my family and friends since Newport is a great spot for lighthouses and museums. Besides we might visit Newport and check out that church. Good to see you back vj.

What a way to start the new season. As you can see, the walls have changed and so does the new design.
