I really thought Nicolle was going to be the first player in a long time to have the lead after her daily double. She was halfway there in final jeopardy but it got her…

  2. Jacob Ska says:

I was ecstatic to hear Matt say, during the chat, he wanted to be a professor because of the research. Imo it’s the best profession in the world. He will be a great professor. The quickness of his mind and his ability to retain information means he won’t be a boring lecturer. I can see his classes filling up fast not because he was on Jeopardy but because he’s just good with knowledge. People love to learn when they are not being bored to death by a professor standing in front of them reading from a textbook or lecture notes. Congratulations Matt!

  3. Mickey O says:

Matt, gentleman that he is, gave Nicolle the opportunity to win . If he was wrong and she was right, he felt she deserved to win. Good sportsmanship from the true champion that he is.

    • VJ says:

Hi, Mickey O. I like that take on Matt’s bet the best 😁

    • ottohemi says:

Then why doesn’t he pull a Cliff Claven and bet it all on every Final Jeopardy? You know, to be a gentleman and give everybody the opportunity to win? No, it was a stupid bet, and he got lucky.

  4. Albert says:

I figured matt would bet $0 or $1. According to game theory would it be statistically better for matt to bet zero or $1? Then again, matt beimg a phd student in computers picked $1. I guess it may depend on the strength of your opponent and the FJ category. If i were in matts position i would bet $1 on u.s. presidents or the british monarchy, but i would bet zero on astronomy or the u.s. space program.

    • Howard says:

I agree, he should have bet $0 and played for a possible tie-breaker. If she’d been right and he wrong, he’d have lost by $1. He’s missed several finals during his run.

  5. Jeopardy! lover says:

Wow! Great finish to the season Matt! Keep winning until you pass Ken Jennings

  6. Justin says:

Found it funny that Nicolle fit the description of a Pollyanna as that was one of the answers today.

    • Lifelong Jeopardy fan says:

I said the same thing! I know a lot of folks find Matt irritating, although I do not, but I was yelling at the TV cheering for Matt to win because as great a player as Nicholle was (and she was great) I just found her mannerisms irritating.

  7. Lou says:

Thank you once again VJ for being our star for this incredible season of jeopardy. It was a spectacular roller coaster ride. We all miss alex but still we will see you again in one month when season 38 begins.

That was another scare that Matt avoided so far but still he came out strong today. Definitely looking forward to seeing him again in September. We appreciate the hard work you’ve done here.

  8. Sam says:

VJ, thanks very much for being our rock during so many seasons of our favorite show. We miss Alex but we’ll miss you, too. We’ll cheer on Nikki (and Matt) next season but our best wishes to you. I think a Spock quote says it all – Live long and prosper!

    • VJ says:

Thanks, Sam, but I didn’t mean to imply that I am not going to still be working on the site. I will continue to work on the recaps as long as I am able to.

Nikki wants to see if she can add some more variety around here.

  9. DC says:

Another scare thrown at Matt – this time by Nicole – but the FJ was sorta in his wheelhouse. I thought he might have wagered zero, but kudos for taking the unnecessary risk. Maybe he thought a tie would blemish his run.

And he survived any Friday the 13th jinx.

    • Darius Scott says:

      hehe

    • KLE says:

I disagree. I think the $1.00 bet was stupid. Better to tie and live to play another day. Made me angry in fact. Unless he really believed he would know the answer. Still, why not play a good competitor again and see if you can beat her. He did not calculate the odds or the stats.

      • Scott Barker says:

If this made you angry…you have some problems. It wasnt your game.

      • Howard says:

You’re right about the wager, more or less, but they now have a tie-breaker question after Final Jeopardy. No longer do tied contestants come back the next show.

  10. Kevin Cheng says:

What a way to end Season 37. I thought that we were going to see a tiebreaker but Nicolle missed and wagered everything and Matt got it right and wagered $1 which is the correct wager. We’ll look forward to seeing Matt again in exactly one month from today.

  11. Darius Scott says:

It’s 2021, not 2020. Also, I was kind of late for Fikkle Fame on Season 37, but I just want to say, you are very welcome and thanks for posting the recaps everyday and for being the best staff member of Fikkle Fame ever!

    Also, Go Matt Go!

You are still doing it! I hope you will win more money in Season 38!

    • VJ says:

Yeah, I was already in the process of fixing that typo.

Also, I guess I will be a staff member of Fikkle Fame when I transfer ownership of the site to Nikki in Season 38, but FYI, I created this website by myself and have owned it since 2010.
