Am I the only one here who was shocked by the Jeff Bezos triple stumper? I thought it was well-known that Amazon is headquartered in Seattle, Washington. As the founder of Amazon he knocked Bill Gates out of the Forbes #1 wealthiest spot some time ago. Washington state holds the distinction of having both billionaires as its residence.

    • VJ says:

@Jacob, you weren’t the only one… I could see how Bill Gates led to that knee jerk reaction from Matt but I was surprised Dana or Bryan didn’t buzz in. I guess they didn’t bother because a correct response would only have benefited Matt.

  2. Albert says:

Matt should win at least 20 games. Matt is definitely the Real Deal.

    • Richard Corliss says:

You mean he’s just like Evander Holyfield.

      • Darius Scott says:

But I do hope he stops saying “What’s” even when it is a person. Let’s do me for an example: What’s Scott? [No, WHO is Scott?] – Darius Doom Scott.

If I was ever a response to a clue and Matt says,”What’s Scott,” it has to be “WHO is Scott?” not “What’s Scott?”

Hopefully he stops that dang bad habit really soon because if he says What’s if it is a person during the tournament of Champions, “WHO is Darius Doom Scott! for example,” then he will be ruled incorrect as it is a person and somebody will probably defeat him for that!

        • JP says:

The well known rule is that as long as it’s in the form of a question, the question word (“who”, “what”, “where”) doesn’t matter.

He could respond with “Is it ____?”, and it would be equally correct and accepted, assuming the actual response was correct, because it is in the form of a question.

        • Mazza says:

          Picky, picky.
You should be as smart as Matt.
          Bug off.

  3. CONNIE terra says:

I wish they would pronounce his hame correctly. Amo Dio. It means I love God.

  4. rhonda says:

Oh, Grape Nut, I wanted to give you a heads up when you watch today’s Double Jeopardy, let’s just say you’re not going to be doing any basking in the sun on Sunday. Messenger Lapin signing off.

  5. Jeopardy! lover says:

Wow! I think I know where $74,000 came from. (Ken Jennings, 74 wins) Poor Dana and Bryan couldn’t get much going today. That’s an unbelievable $38,400 average!
I hope Matt can make $300,000 tomorrow!

  6. DC says:

    Go Matt go!

    Holzhauer-esque !

  7. Ismael Gomez says:

Sorry that the clues were mean to Bryan.

  8. Darius Scott says:

OMG!!! $268,800 in just 7 games is super impressive! Hope he wins about 23 games!

  9. Jacob Ska says:

Lou, I responded to your post last night. Hope you read it.

    • Lou says:

Yes I read it and thank you for the reply. Much appreciated Jacob. Anyway 268000 dollars is a big win. Matt should be season 37 biggest winner so far as he is leading in the toc standings. Two dismissals so far but hopefully we can get a triple solve tomorrow. Matt is getting dominant here.

  10. JP says:

Imagine if he was more daring on the Daily Doubles. Could have been in Holzhauer territory.

  11. Kevin Cheng says:

Well it just goes that way, someone dominates the game and there’s nothing you can do about it and that was the case with both Dana and Bryan. But on the other hand, 74,000 is the new one day record for this season and we are only 11 games left until the season finale.
