WHAT IS NEW JERSEY?

According to the New Jersey government’s official website: “In 1664 the Dutch lost New Netherlands when the British took control of the land and added it to their colonies. They divided the land in half and gave control to two proprietors: Sir George Carteret (who was in charge of the east side) and Lord John Berkley (who was in charge of the west side). The land was officially named New Jersey after the Isle of Jersey in the English Channel. Carteret had been governor of the Isle of Jersey.”

Carteret appointed his cousin, Philip, as the first colonial governor of New Jersey in 1665. The city of Elizabeth (New Jersey’s first capital) was named for George Carteret’s wife.

Ben thought it was Maine. He lost his $7,798 bet, leaving him with two bucks.

Kelly got it right. She bet $8,000 bet, bringing her up to $16,200.

Jordan had Maine, too. He lost $4,801, landing in second place with $6,799. That made Kelly Griffin the new Jeopardy! champ, much to her surprise and delight.

It’s also quite rare to have 4 triple stumpers in a row!

Trebek is judgmental. How much would Trebek know if Trebek were actually on the show?

Congrats to Kelly I just hope she can string up more wins. I used to live in New Jersey but since my dad changed jobs we moved to Connecticut. Also VJ and John how long have you guys lived in Texas and Hawaii? And John did you used to live in any other parts of the United States before ?

    • VJ says:

@Lou, I have lived in Texas the last 10 something years. However, I was born in New Jersey and lived there the greater part of my life. I can still name all the counties — there’s only 21. Texas has over 250 and I wouldn’t even attempt to memorize them!

Thanks for your congrats for my Fri prediction!
I am glad I overslept today, I probably would have gone with O, torn between 0 and 1, with geography AND foreign….
So let’s see how many games Kelly can string together. Would have been fun if we had a player from NJ today….I wonder if s/he would have gotten FJ!!
