TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
“Porgy and Bess” began as a 1925 novel simply called “Porgy” by DuBose Heyward, set on fictional Catfish Row in the author’s native Charleston, S.C. The novel was then adapted into a play with the same name. In 1933, George Gershwin and Heyward collaborated on creating an opera, adding Porgy’s love interest to the title. Gershwin composed the music. Heyward wrote most of the lyrics and the libretto. Gershwin’s brother Ira also contributed lyrics, such as “It Ain’t Necessarily So”.WHAT IS “PORGY AND BESS”?
More stuff: Here is a link to the South Carolina law that designated “Porgy and Bess” as the state opera. Playbill has a list of the 16 most revived Broadway musicals since 1927.
Aleithia got it right. She bet $7,399 and finished with $14,799.
Steve got it right, too. He bet $4,601 and finished with $18,401.
Robert came up with “South Pacific”. He lost his $4,601 bet, leaving him with $18,399. That made Steve Clarke the new Jeopardy! champ.
A triple stumper from each round:
WRITER, WRONGER ($1600) Known for his wildly graphic writing, kidnapping & other horrific excesses, he was transferred to the Bastille in February 1784

Yeah, a very popular opera in FJ indeed, and it was only too bad that I missed it.
Brilliant FJ wagering by Steve. He knew how much Robert had to bet and made his accordingly.
I figured out the answer but guessed that only one player at most would get it. “Opera” and “South” were what led me to it. Didn’t know what state it took place in, though.
Knew the Naked Lunch author and the Sharon Tate movie.
I got the Pope TS, the two in the writer category and the man from Tennessee. Funny, I just deleted that Sharon Tate movie from my DVR last month and I didn’t get it because I was thinking of the real Sharon Tate and not Margot Robbie.
live by the math (first game), die by the math (this game)
Robert got all the daily doubles but 1 wrong daily double in the 1st round, and when Robert sees the wrong response in Final Jeopardy, he’s out of the game in 2nd place, and his score is less than Steve’s when he gets the right response.
