David found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “U.S. Cities” under the $800 clue on the 10th pick of the round. He was in second place with $1,400, $600 less than Eleanor in second place. David bet $1,000 and thought it was Santa Fe. That was WRONG.

Eleanor finished in the lead with $3,400. David was second with $3,000 and Shayan was last with $2,000. All clues were shown.

David found the first Daily Double in “One-Word Nonfiction Titles” under the $1,200 clue on the fourth pick. He was in the lead with $4,600 now, $1,200 more than Eleanor in second place. David bet $2,000 and took a shot at it with fallacy. That was WRONG.
This word for all kinds of distractions from clear thinking is the title of a book subtitled “A Flaw in Human Judgment” show
Eleanor got the last Daily Double in “A Disaster of Biblical Proportions” under the $1,600 clue, with 5 clues left after it. In second place with $6,600, she had $3,000 less than Shayan’s lead. She bet $2,018 and she was RIGHT.

Eleanor finished in the lead with $12,218. Shayan was next with $10,400 and David was in third place with $6,600. All clues were shown.

French Guiana (Guyane in French) is located in South America, bordered on the north by the Atlantic Ocean, where the majority of its estimated 300K population live on a coastal strip. Bellevue de l’Inini, the highest mountain in French Guiana, is located in Maripasoula, France’s largest commune. Yes! That is another odd fact about French Guiana to add to it having France’s largest land border. This morning, klm remembered that fact being brought up by DC in the comments on the June 10th Jeopardy! recap.
David bet $3,801 and finished with $10,401. His “Guyana” spelling was acceptable and it was also a good thing that he crossed out the beginnings of Equatorial Guinea. That would have put the kibosh on the triple solve!
Shayan bet $2,801 and finished with $13,201.
Eleanor bet $8,600 and won the game with $20,818. She is the new Jeopardy! champ.

I don’t get it; we had a slew of tough FJs this week, and now this no brainer.
I mean, the Mont Bellevue de L’inini was a dead giveaway.

I have to concur, VJ. I thought that his comment was hyperbole.
That would be true, but the mountain more or less pinpointed the country.
The returning champ got 2 daily doubles wrong and the correct response in the Final (Elanor spelled the same last word as David). He winds up in 3rd place and goes home for only $3,000. Elanor won almost $21,000 in the game and today’s new returning champion to finish the week.
Happy to see a triple solve today. Congrats to all three players.

William Weyser, Thank you. Without your wish yesterday I doubt we would have finally gotten a triple solve. The drought has come to an end on day 60. 😄

Today’s game was the first since April 8 with all 3 players getting Final Jeopardy! correct, ending a 59-game streak. We finally have our first triple solve. We had three triple stumpers this week but thank goodness the end of the week saved us from another small payday.
