WHAT IS POLYNESIA?

From Ancestry.com: “Most of Polynesia’s islands lie within a triangular area in the Pacific Ocean. The Polynesian Triangle’s “points” are Hawaii, Easter Island (Rapu Nui) and New Zealand. It’s a world defined by the ocean. With about 120,000 square miles of land spread across some 10 million square miles of water, Polynesia’s islands were among the last places on Earth to be settled by humans.” Most of those 120,000 square miles are in New Zealand.

Debbie thought it was Patagonia. She bet and lost it all.

E.J. went with Antarctica. He bet and lost it all, too.

Josh came up with Greenland. He bet $8,901 so that left him $8,199 to win the game with. Josh Levit is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Wow. If you think the FJ in this year’s TT 2nd semi-final is tough, this FJ is getting even tougher. And it’s the same thing happened as well.

  2. Albert says:

What is more prestigious: Polynesia or Micronesia?

  3. VJ says:

In this game, I would have been comfortable betting whatever I had on the first DD and 5 big ones on the other two, if I got them all. And I would have been right on all of them.

On FJ, I would have been comfortable making a big bet, too, and I would have bombed!

  4. Benjamin M. Peralta says:

The kids in the latest teen tournament did a much better job (especially Ryan, an 8th grader) than these three. After James Holzhauer, the champions don’t seem to last long. I wonder if there will be like James in the near future. At any rate, I’ve always been a Jeopardy fan since I came to the U.S.

  5. Lou says:

Triple stumper on final jeopardy today and yet they all wrote their responses pretty quickly and missed it. The teens managed to know this one. I’m kind of not surprised they didn’t know Tom Holland in.Spiderman, VJ. Congrats to Josh on his win but I hope he can build on it.

    • VJ says:

@Lou, the teens definitely had an easier clue on that one with a visual aid. lol. Obviously, today, they all thought the clue was referring to one land mass.

  6. JP says:

For Final Jeopardy, I was in the “figured it out but not nearly quickly enough” group.

    • VJ says:

@JP, they all started writing their responses so fast, I said to my kid, “I don’t believe this!” (translation: they can’t possibly be right). lol

      • Richard Corliss says:

Jeopardy has a rule that says “If a contestant gives the staff extra information in a response and the extra part is not correct then it invalidates the whole response”.

  7. Kevin Cheng says:

We’re back to regular games and congrats to Josh, a new champion with $8,199.

  8. Dal Higbee says:

I don’t like the ending of today’s game. I’d rather see the Teen Tournament again.

    • William Weyser says:

I’m sure that there will be another Teen Tournament in the future, although I kind of would like to see a ”Grade 8-9” Version. Why? As I said on Friday, JEOPARDY! has never had an 8th Grader or a Freshman win a Teen Tournament before. It’s always won by either a Sophomore, a Junior or a Senior. Out of the 32 Teen Tournaments that JEOPARDY! has done, only 4 of them were won by a Sophomore, 10 of them were won by a Junior & 18 of them were won by a Senior. THAT’S WAY TOO MANY!

  9. Richard Corliss says:

    Wow. E.J. has changed.

    • William Weyser says:

Kind of reminds me of Stefan Goodreau. In between his last regular appearance & his Tournament Of Champions Quarter-Final game, he grew a beard & a moustache.

      • Richard Corliss says:

And his semi-final game. But in the two day final games he shaved it off and went back to the way he was in his regular appearances in the last week of the 2007-2009 set.
