WHAT IS TRIBUNE?
From Ancient Roman Odyssey: “By the time of the Roman Republic the name tribunes does not refer to any one specific office as there were different types of tribune with varying degrees of influence, power and responsibility. Tribunes were meant to act as a check on the Senate, keeping their power under scrutiny and ensuring there was no corruption. The most powerful and influential tribune was the tribune of the plebs.”
The sole duty of the ‘Tribune of the Plebs’ was to protect the plebeians and ease tensions between the classes. With that in mind, “Tribune” became a very popular name for newspapers. As Mayim Bialik said: “We have the New York Tribute, later the Herald Tribune, the San Diego Union-Tribune, among many others”, and of course, that would include the Chicago Tribune.
Lydia got it right. She bet $1,241 and finished with $4,041.
John got it, too. His $8,700 brought him up to $19,700.
Robin wrote down “Senator”. She lost her $9,001 bet and finished with $3,999. That made John Alba Cutler the new Jeopardy! champion.
A triple stumper from each round:
IT’S ALL ABOUT HER ($1600) “Daughter of Destiny” is the autobiography of this slain Pakistani prime minister

When is Jeopardy! gonna post this year’s tournament of champions into the past tournaments page? I still don’t see it there…
I really want to know. Please tell me they are gonna post it sometime tonight or tomorrow!
You go to contestant zone and select view all champions and tap the number 5 and you should see it.
Darius, I really don’t know the answer to your question and don’t know if anyone else here knows. You could try emailing Jeopardy! directly. there’s a link to their contact page at the bottom of this recap.
VJ, they posted it.
oh! can you tell Darius where to look?
Today just so happens to be the 17th anniversary of Ken Jennings’ first episode.
How is October an ember month ?
It’s an “Ember month” by definition (although not an “ember” month), given the definition is just the last four months of the year.
I guess 3/4 matching was enough for the name to stick. Although it’s seems pretty obscure and not a very good clue in my opinion.
It’s also the longest month of the year.
Robin probably meant to say the sentinel paper from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, there are a few other newspapers like the sun sentinel from Florida, or perhaps that Alaska sentinel paper. Anyway the senator response will come back to haunt her. Anyone here agree with me? Good game by John today. I visited Chicago when I was younger and read the Chicago Tribune a few times online.
Thank you for posting this daily.
