WHAT IS “THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO”?

The Avalon Project has the 1888 English edition online, translated by Samuel Moore and edited by Friedrich Engels. The first two sentences in full are: “A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of Communism. All the Powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Czar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies.” It was published in late February 1848, about the same time as the Revolutions of 1848 began. Pius IX had been Pope for almost two years. Nicholas I was Czar of Russia. Klemens von Metternich, Austrian Chancellor and Foreign Minister, was forced to resign a month later. Francois Guizot, the French Prime Minister, resigned on 2/24/1848. That was a coincidence, however, as the Manifesto was not widely read at the time of its publication. It was not even published in the United States until 1872.

Why study the Communist Manifesto today? Professor Paul Brians explains.

Brad bet it all and finished with 14,400.

Ken bet 18,800, bringing him up to 40,000

James bet 11,914, as he has done so many times. He finished with 44,314.

Those scores will be added to the totals in the next game to determine the winner of today’s match.

Good game today by all the players and I think maybe jason zufferaneri could definitely learn a thing or two from the legends here. As he became a 19 day winner, he could probably at some point bet big and nail a daily double in.the tournament of champions though final jeopardy is his weakness. Brad’s weakness is the daily doubles so I hope he can turn that around and the same can be said for jason.
