WHAT IS THE CHRYSLER BUILDING?
The Chrysler Building’s address is 405 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10174. It is located on the corner of East 42nd Street and Lexington, just a short walk across the street to Grand Central Terminal. In its early days, the first two floors of the building were used to showcase Chrysler’s best cars. Walter Chrysler never intended to move Chrysler headquarters there after financing construction of the building with his own money. He intended to leave it to his heirs as a real estate investment and they did inherit it when he died in 1940.
The above news report on the last sale of the Chrysler Building mentions the cost of leasing the land from Cooper Union as the reason for the bargain-basement price. More interesting is the fact that Cooper Union doesn’t have to pay the City of New York a dime on the rent it collects from leasing the land. The Chrysler Building is the No. 1 property on the NY Post’s list of Fancy Properties with Big Tax Exemptions.
Thomas bet $17 and finished with $1,217.
Amy stood pat on her $4,400.
Tristan bet $7,600 and won the game with $30,000. Tristan’s 9-day total is $188,501.
