Even if Udit wagered to win by $1 if Jeff doubled up and got it wrong, the loss still would have been heartbreaking, but on the bright side, upon Jeff’s reaction to winning, he did a Justin Hofstetter move by putting his pointing fingers in the air.

After seeing an article earlier today, I really wanted to see how Alex pronounced Hefeweizen. As luck would have it, there was a blip on my computer right when he said it. But I still got to see it on the TV recording — and he said it the way the article said NOT to say it. :):)

I got Podgorica right (and all the others) in Tough State Capitals (big grin)

That’s awesome, VJ. I never even heard of Podgorica and Valletta before.

I’m not gonna lie, Rhonda — it wasn’t easy to learn those Balkan countries that we first learned as Yugoslavia but I like geography so I kept at it till I got it. Just don’t ask me to pronounce some of them. :):)

Just noticed that it says “Titograd” for Podgorica on that map I just linked to — and they even had a clue about that in 2005: “In 1946 the name of Podgorica was changed to this for Yugoslavia’s leader; it was changed back in 1992”

I admire your persistence, VJ. Let’s hope the next time Podgorica shows up on Jeopardy in some way, I will remember it!!
