Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
In “King Arthur: Tales of the Round Table” (1902), Andrew Lang has a chapter on “How the Round Table Began.” In it, Arthur decides to take a wife and tells Merlin: ” ‘I love Guenevere, daughter of Leodegrance, King of Cameliard, in whose house is the Round Table that my father gave him. This maiden is the fairest that I have ever seen, or ever shall see.” Merlin went off to see Leodegrance, who happily consented and decided to make a gift of the Round Table to his future son-in-law. When Arthur got this news, he said: “This news that Merlin has brought me is welcome indeed, for I have long loved this fair lady, and the Round Table is dearer to me than great riches.”
Alexandra got it right. She bet $8,500, bringing her up to $17,300.
Tom came up with Sleeping Beauty. He lost his $8,800 bet, leaving him with $400.
Carolyn was going for someone who has never been in her kitchen, but wasn’t able to finish the phrase. She lost $8,801 and finished with $799. That made Alexandra Henkoff the new Jeopardy! champ.
A triple stumper from each round:
MAGAZINES ($1000) In the 1920s Amelia Earhart penned an aviation column for this “worldly” women’s magazine begun in 1886
LONGTIME RULERS ($1600) During his 68-year reign that ended in 1916, he was King of Hungary, Croatia & Bohemia & Emperor of Austria

What a stressful day! The internet was going in and out here, so I went to a friend’s and her internet was doing the same thing! Anyhow, hopefully, this is a temporary thing.
I did a post last week about King Mswati changing Swaziland’s name to Eswati, so I am assuming the next time we see that country come up, it will either have the name change or be about that.

VJ, sorry to hear you had a stressful day. Between the move and the internet going medieval, you still keep going. Remarkable tenacity—thank you. Hope you can relax a little on the weekend (I’m sure the twins will help with that, lol).
Thanks, Cece. Yeah, the weekend should be something, too, but you gotta roll with the punches. omg, that was one of the categories today, only “role’
ha ha (too tired to manage another ha)
Sleeping beauty? That’s not one of King Arthur’s tales of the round table. If you have heard of Guinevere and Gawain, they are in love if I am not mistaken? I am guessing Tom hasn’t read much of King Arthur tales?
Congrats to Alex on getting this right. I wonder if Guinevere had kids after she got married.
Just google ” Guinevere” and under “Origins, Family & Character” there is a foggy reference about 2 sons by Mordred (though not confirmed but implied) and there is also talk about Arthur’s sons, although “their exact parentage is not clear”. So I guess take your pick.
The stumper about Kaiser Franz Joseph hurt me very much…..Ironically he ruled for 68 years and died at age 86.
I found the CC answer (though unfinished) funny. Carolyn had at least a sense of humor.
Maybe and hopefully Alexandra can finally break the one day champ jinx. J needs players for the next ToC, 15 to be exact. Are we going to see players who won 2 games there or will they postpone the ToC until they have enough players??
