Final Jeopardy: Modern Words (4-20-23)

Here are some more clues from the 4/20/2023 Jeopardy! game. Please don’t put the answers to these clues in the comments so people who missed the game can have a chance to answer them. It is okay to refer to them by category and clue value or by part of the clue.

FLYING COLORS ($200) Benjamin Moore’s paint called this, also an airline, is a dark sapphire; the airline’s planes do have the appropriate tailfin color

REPTILES ($2000) Like a constellation, this lizard that can glide through the air bears a name from Latin for “dragon”

REMEMBERING BARBARA WALTERS ($1600) Barbara attributed some of her success to this Bronxville College, her alma mater, where she “learned to ask questions”

The players got all the clues in TRIPLE HOMOPHONES, except the last one. (They only had to say the word once):

    Very tough final, although in hindsight the latter part of the clue made it at least guessable. How Devin missed that cinch DD about the airline was shocking.
    That triple homophone stumper was tricky, but “ancient ruler” led me there.
    As a long-ago NYer, I knew “Baba Wawa’s” college, but that was a toughie.

      Howard, I agree with you about Sarah Lawrence College. When I grew up in New York we heard about it a lot. I guess we just assumed it was well-known outside of the state too. The same thing applies to Cornell. I guess Columbia University is the most famous university to out-of-staters. 🤔

    I thought it was pretty funny that “My Prerogative” was chosen for a category name, then no one knew who sang it when it showed up in the song category

    As Ken said that the player Devin Lohman is the lowest winning score of the season after Emma became a Jeopardy champion.
