Antoine Joseph Sax, known as Adolphe Sax, was the son of a famous instrument-maker, who inherited his father’s talent and worked at the craft in his father’s workshop. From Focus on Belgium: “In 1830, when he was just 15, he presented two flutes and an ivory clarinet at the Concours Industriel de Bruxelles. A few years later, in 1838, Adolphe Sax began his initial research into the creation of a new instrument that would make him famous, naming it after himself: the saxophone.” After he moved to Paris, he became well-knowN with the help of Hector Berlioz and Emperor Napoleon III became one of his admirers. Reversal: “X” ENDS THE SPOT ($400) To bewilder – They wanted “perplex” so they nixed Bianca’s response of “vex”. You can see perplex on the list of synonyms for vex here. Bianca also tried vex on the $2K clue “To enthrall or to paralyze with terror” but that didn’t fly.

I agree. Day 4 of that spastic hell. But having a blast reading the twitter about it!
That turned out to be a great game for Lindsey once she got her buzzer mojo working. Brad and Bianca were outbuzzing her in the beginning. I thought someone might come up with cornet for a wrong answer, never thought of the ones that came up.

Well we wrapped up the week with a couple of big payday wins and only one triple solve. But was Bianca thinking of the sousaphone since it was named after Sousa John and VJ? At least all the daily double clues are nailed and a win is a win for Lindsey despite not getting final right. By the way VJ do you know if any of your family members ever played the saxophone or know someone that does?
