My husband agrees it is Poet Laureate. After looking it up I also agree. There is more laureate classes than the better known Poet.

  2. John says:

Am I the only one who questions whether they should have accepted just “laureate” without “poet?” But he would still have won even if they ruled him incorrect.

    • VJ says:

Probably not, John. The way that went down I thought at first that just “laureate” was what they wanted. But when I saw that Belgium had created the position in 2014, I decided that was why they included that country and they were after “poet laureate.”

My guess is the judges felt they had to accept just laureate because the clue lacked a specific reference to a poet or poetry,

If you are remembering quotes from The Apartment, then you need to be on Jeopardy!

  4. Richard Corliss says:

Cherisa was up and down in the game today it wasn’t her day. The boys took the game away from her.

  5. Lou says:

Well, it’s unfortunate Travis didn’t win his fourth game but Patrick came out on top today. Congrats to him and Cherisa on getting final right.

I knew the directors because the movie Gentlemen’s Agreement was something I saw back in high school a long time ago. One of the quotes was “I called up my sister Jane and she squealed Kathy as if she had given up any hope of anyone ever asking me.” And “oh dave we couldn’t get married without you what happened?”

I hope Patrick can build up on his win VJ. What are some of the quotes you remember from The Apartment movie? Brigadier General is a military rank and not a artistic rank.

    • VJ says:

No problem, Lou — you shouldn’t put the answers to the triple stumpers in the comments anyhow — that way other people have a chance to see if they know it or not.

That article in wikipedia does say that “laureate” is applicable to military glory.

I don’t remember any quotes from The Apartment. I saw that so long ago, I barely remember anything about it except it starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.
