WHAT IS THE OTIS ELEVATOR COMPANY?
The 20th anniversary of the first Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was celebrated in July 2014 and in its honor, TowerSecrets.com published 20 Bits of Tower of Terror Trivia. This is No. 3: “The Otis Elevator company, after 100 years of engineering elevators that don’t feel like free-falling, helped design the vertical ride system used in the Tower of Terror. Otis is the world’s oldest and largest elevator manufacturer and has installed elevators in the Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building, and Petronas Twin Towers – just to name a few.”
The Otis Elevator Company was founded in 1853 after Elisha Otis invented the elevator safety brake. Eventually, it became a necessity in buildings with more than 3 stories. We probably all have more relatives, living or dead, who rode on Otis elevators but never heard of Disney’s Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Sara got it right with “Otis.” She added $3,000 to her score and finished with $7,200.
Molly went with General Electric. That cost her $3,001 and left her with $2,399.
Emma thought it was Kodak. She lost $7,400 but won the game with the remaining $17,200. Emma’s 3-day total is $54,199.

I got FJ easily, because the wife and I are “true believers” – we drank the Kool-Aid, and had a second glass!
But, again, J! ruined the ending to a movie, that triple stumper above. I’ve never seen it!
But, really – the host’s inconsistency continues. She pronounced Rouen correctly, but totally Americanized Tallinn. It appears, from my viewing, that she doesn’t prepare as much as Ken Jennings (alternately, he could just be sharper than her). I saw a Reddit headline (that I didn’t read) that said he’ll be back on 14 Feb.
That 5K bet in the second daily double helped Emma a lot today, but sad that she didn’t get this final. I was on the tower of terror with a friend of mine back in 2007 when we were in Orlando Florida. Also VJ happy Friday to you and have you ever rode on the tower of terror in Florida?
No, Lou, I have not been on any kind of ride for about 40 years, and that last time was in Seaside Heights, NJ. I was upside down on the Loop-de-Loop and I said to myself, “What the hell am I doing upside down on the Loop-de-Loop? When I get out of here, I’m never going on another ride again!”
I was happy to see Emma get a runaway today. She’s a strong player.
