WHAT IS THE DMZ?

The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a region on the Korean peninsula that was established by the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement that ended the 3-year Korean War. It is the de facto border between North and South Korea. Reuters has a Factbox on it if you want to bone up on the history of the DMZ.

Business Insider has an article that wonders if peace between the 2 Koreas would be a threat to the wildlife that has taken up residence there: “Over 91 endangered species have called this unique biome home. You can find everything there from wild cats to Siberian tigers, black bears to red-crowned cranes. This is partly because the DMZ runs across a wide ranges of habitats, which includes mountains, marshes, swamps, and prairies.”

Michelle came up with Coral Reef Reserve. She lost her $3,300 and finished with $1,100.

Travis got it right. He bet $3,801, bringing him up to $14,801.

Stephen went with the Great Barrier Reef. He lost $7,201 for a $7,599 finish. That made Travis Gaylord the new Jeopardy! champ.

    I also appreciated TRAVIS humor.
    Obviously enjoying playing.
I was hoping he would win so we can see him again.

At least, Travis made up for that miss about the clue of Pennsylvania by winning tonight’s game, but it happens when there’s something about your home state that you didn’t know about.

It’s too bad that michelle couldn’t build up on her win as the guys were just too quick for her to catch up. But seriously, I thought stephen might have a lock on the game and yet he went too far south. I mean the great barrier reef is in Australia and has nothing to do with the DMZ or the korean war in general. What was he really thinking there VJ? But still though I really hoped that we could have had another triple solve here.

    • VJ says:

Well, I don’t know what he was thinking but it seems pretty obvious that the clue made both Michelle and Stephen think of coral reefs.

idk, I thought the clue was too easy this morning — narrow strip of land,, 1953 — but maybe that is because my brother and I are the reasons my father didn’t have to serve in that war. At least that’s what I was told.
