Italian historian Peter Martyr d’Anghiera, writing in Latin, called it Hispaniola (Small Spain). Although the island has been called other names at various times, most people know it as Hispaniola today. Oh, I kept forgetting this. Will had the “Tess” question, which he got correct. For some reason, my DVR started marking “Masterminds” as new, even though it’s been cancelled. That same day, a fellow on MM had the “Ultimate Trivia Question” – which was that selfsame quote from that novel! But, the dude on MM said “Jane Eyre”! I don’t recall from when the MM episode showed.

Will really leaned into his TX accent. Good on him for his win.

This group, while retreads, was refreshingly better than most of what’s been on the past several weeks.

10 pm start tonight. Nice battle between the guys; Tekla was silent throughout the 2nd round till she made a late move, but fell back when she mixed up the two girl groups (which I’ve done often).

FJ was pretty much a cinch and was unlikely to change the outcome. Most of the stumpers were not friendly, other than the 3-letter airline; the “-ness” title; and the Jewish sage.

  4. Rick says:

A good competitive game going into the final with a freebie for FJ.
