NONE) of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
WHAT IS “I DREAM OF JEANNIE”?
“I Dream of Jeannie” is a popular sitcom that ran from 1965 until 1970, starring Barbara Eden in the title role. Jeannie is a genie trapped in a bottle until astronaut Larry Hagman became her “Master” when he let her out of the bottle. IMDB trivia notes that the “fancy antique bottle…was actually a decorative Jim Beam liquor decanter, which originally contained “Beam’s Choice” Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.” Barbara Eden chose the purple trim for her bottle and an art dept. employee painted and decorated the bottle with gold lead.
Several different bottles were used over the course of the show. One was given to Barbara Eden and she donated it to the Smithsonia Natl. Museum of American History
Alex had no response. He lost $601 and finished with $5,199.
Bill crossed out Dick Van Dyke and wrote down Jennie. Ken said “Jeannie” but I didn’t see the A in there. Either way, they wanted the show’s name so he lost his $4,000 bet and finished with with $2,400.
Ashley also had Dick Van Dyke, who played Rob Petrie on “The Dick Van Dyke Show”. She didn’t bet a penny so she won the game with the $15,600 she already had. Ashley Chan is the new Jeopardy! champ.
A triple stumper from each round:
AMERICA BEFORE 1800 ($1000) During the winter of 1778-79, this Prussian nobleman wrote a “Blue Book” of military regulations for American troops
NATIONAL BIRDS ($1200) Estonia’s national bird is this most widespread species of swallow that normally nests in manmade structures

Its last line is “If this is their idea of Christmas, I gotta be here for New Year’s” show

Another clunky FJ. That was over complicated for a rather straightforward question. I got it, BTW.
Also 3/3 on DD.
I don’t know Alex from my hometown, and his name rang no bells. But, my take on J! is, just say something. Anything.
Congrats to the new champ!
Those darn comedians! My eyes lit up when I saw “60s sitcom,” but unfortunately that was one I never watched.
Not a bad game, even for a runaway, but they left too many on the table for my liking. The type of swallow; dodge/vadere; Hans Brinker’s footwear; King’s church; Henley’s poem (shame on them. I used it on my wife’s funeral program); LUV airline symbol.
Well, none of the contestants got FJ right, and neither did I for that matter. In fact, the only thing that I could think of which vaguely matched the clues was the sitcom ‘The Beverly Hillbillies”.
Oh, I hope everyone reads the Ernest Henley poem. The name of it is Invictus. It’s not only inspiring, the history behind it is jaw-dropping.
I believe Jeopardy! has used the ending lines in other clues:
“I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul”
Our third triple stumper resulted our second straight FJ! losing week. I can’t remember the last time that we have back-to-back losing weeks in the final.
