I was 3/3 on DD but missed FJ. That’s a little embarrassing, because I grew up on Lake Erie!

The quebracho clue I missed, but I know the tree! In English, it is “axe breaker”!

A lot to say here. What a shocking turn of events! Libby stood silent until after the first break, then came on strong. I could see her out-buzzing Harrison repeatedly, till he rallied himself. Brendan goofed a couple of times, first by saying “Cambridge” in the “Lee” category, then by flubbing the 2nd DD.

I cannot remember how long it’s been since I thought all 3 DDs and Final were cinches. I was super-surprised when Harrison showed the “gap” in his overall knowledge on that first DD. I collected stamps as a kid and am certain I have that stamp that was in Final.

Only 2 of 3 contestants got that creampuff Final from 2 years ago? (1936 novel).
The motor oil and South American acid stumpers were somewhat gettable.

Yeah, that doldrums response was a real headscratcher. Perhaps they don’t use the same expression that we do in Merry Olde England for that, or maybe the yawn part of the clue gave him pause.

      • VJ says:

P.S. Missing DDs has never seemed to hurt Harrison though. In fact, I believe he proved he didn’t need the DDs to win several times.

  3. Rick says:

Libby eventually came from behind, and became the new Jeopardy champ. Congratulations Libby! Well, I rather underperformed a tad during the game, but snared another freebie fin FJ.

  4. Kevin Cheng says:

December started off with a huge upset. Libby was close behind Harrison when she got Final correct and Harrison didn’t but what an amazing run Harrison had. We’ll look forward to seeing Harrison again in the 2027 Tournament of Champions. Congratulations to Libby to becoming the new giant killer and being able to do what many people weren’t able to do and that is defeat Harrison.

  5. VJ says:

Well, I guess we’ll have to see if Ron Lalonde wins enough games to play against Harrison in the ToC.

    • Richard Walls Corliss says:

I don’t know, VJ. Something tells me that Harrison will easily win the next Tournament of Champions next season.
