As I’ve made known, I am not a fan of the Canadian person. However, I found it a bit remarkable that the two other contestants were able to consistently beat her to the buzzer.

The comment about Andrew’s gutsy move reminded me of something from military school. It’s rather crass, but, the school was still all male when I was there. Anyways, “there’s a fine line between balls and stupidity”. But, also, “it ain’t braggin’ if it’s true”.

So, good on him! As stated, he might be the one to beat in the finals!

Here’s another old saying “Lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place”. I screamed “Nooooo, don’t do it” when Andrew bet it all on that last DD. Then he got that easy clue and all was well. Nevertheless, I will be most surprised if he gets all the DDs in any of the final games and is able to duplicate that good fortune.

      • Jason says:

Although, lightning does strike twice (or more) – the Empire State Building is struck at least 100 times per year. What I give Andrew is taking advantage of situations where they present.

I do look forward to the “best of seven” (or, at least, “first to three”)!

        • VJ says:

Yes, I know the saying isn’t literally true. Personally; I believe in lucky times when things just go your way. It could be for a day or more. And the opposite can happen too, when nothing goes right. That sure was Andrew’s lucky day in getting all the DDs and knowing them too.

  2. Albert says:

I think Andrew He will win the TOC. Steve Martin is extremely good, but somewhat limited. Amy will have to be more aggressive with the DD wagers to keep up with Andrew, if Amy can even get to the DDs before Andrew.

  3. Howard says:

Who’d have thought that both Matt & Mattea would fall by the wayside? DDs often make the difference in matches, especially among the elite players. Andrew’s 3rd DD wager was ballsy, to say the least. He’s fortunate it was a softball. The first 2 were a bit more challenging, but gettable; I figured that if I knew them, he would too.

Killer FJ. Didn’t help at all that Kew Gardens was the next neighborhood over in the area of Queens (NYC) where I grew up.

  4. Rick says:

Ugh!!!!! What were the writers thinking? I mean, in the Spanish category, the correct Spanish phrase for ‘Don’t bite your tongue’ is ‘No te muerdas la lengua’. Actually, what was there instead was: ‘No tener pelos en la lengua’. Andrew obviously made something out of it, and good for him.

  5. Rick says:

Regarding the FJ, I’m not sure of the timeline when that transfer even took place regarding the Kew Gardens. Perhaps it was during the Victorian era? In fact, I couldn’t find anything where it was ever mentioned that the Kew Gardens was involved in that transfer in any way. I mean, with only a few seconds to spare before the clock ran out, I gasped and came up with the Victoria estate.

  6. Richard Corliss says:

    And then there were 3.

  7. Louis says:

Congrats to Andrew winning the semifinals game! This was a great match between eric, Andrew and Mattea. Good luck to Andrew in the finals!

  8. Ismael Gomez says:

And we end the week with a triple stumper as today’s Final was not nice to anybody.

  9. Kevin Cheng says:

Wow what a gusty Daily Double bet by Andrew in the DJ! Both DDs were TDDs. I think that $16,800 is the record for the most money True Daily Double ever in Jeopardy history! That has never happened before. Now Andrew gets to have a rematch against Amy Schneider. The last time they met was when Amy defeated Andrew in his 6th game when she was the only player to get FJ! and that was when she began her 40 game streak. This is gonna be the most exciting finals ever. The first player to win three matches will be crowned the 2022 TOC champion.
