WHAT IS ONE THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS or ARARBIAN NIGHTS?
From London Review of Books: “Before they ever appeared in print, the [Arabian Nights] stories had been circulating for centuries, crossing the borders between the Christian and Islamic worlds, and commuting fluently between tongue and pen. The many narrative tributaries first came together in a single stream when the French scholar and antiquarian Antoine Galland used a 14th or 15th-century Syrian manuscript he had brought back from his travels in the Middle East as the basis for seven volumes of stories that he entitled Les Mille et Une Nuits, which appeared between 1701 and 1706.”
At the time, that was thought to be the earliest manuscript of One Thousand and One Nights; however, in 1947, A fragment of the stories was discovered in Egypt and dated to the 9th century. It was purchased by the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
Beth didn’t have a response. She lost her $6,998 bet and finished with $2.00.
Kevin got it right. His $6,001 bet brought him up to $14,001.
Kara got it, too. She bet $6,000 and won the game with $17,800. Kara Skinner is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Kara got a pass on an incorrect answer on 10/4/10. Category was 8000. She incorrectly said that was the earth’s diameter near the equator. Think it should have been circumference, but no one caught it.
Yay! A new champion on the 8000th episode, AT LEAST there’s one unplayed $200 clue, better than the worst Jeopardy! game ever had with unplayed clues worth $8,000.
Well kevin had a good run and Congrats to kara on winning the game. Although I do wish kevin would have won his fourth game but let’s hope Kara can build up a chain of wins. VJ you’ve heard of Arabian nights right? I think Aladdin is where this can be found if your kids watched the series and the movies. It was also my childhood seeing Aladdin.
Yes Lou, idk about the new cartoons but a lot of the old cartoons worked in Aladdin and Ali Baba themes from Arabian Nights.
