The classic board game we know as “Clue,” originated in the UK. After its inventor, Anthony Pratt, was awarded a patent, he sold it to card and board game publisher Waddingtons, who published it under the name “Cluedo” in 1949. Parker Brothers got the license to sell it in the U.S.A., where it was marketed as “Clue” the same year. See a timeline of the game’s history on Twoop
Apparently, the edition today’s FJ refers to was sold by Parker Brothers. Chris Marquandt was able to add a “Sherlock Holmes” edition from 1949 to his collection this past February. He posted some cool pictures of it on his Wargames and Railroads blog.
Phil bet nothing so he remained at $1,000.
Nan bet $7,200, bringing her up to $16,600.
Erica bet $4,801 so she won the match with $18,801, and Erica is the new Jeopardy! champ.

Congrats to all on the triple solve. Clue is one of my favorite board games. And VJ, I hope your kids played this in their childhood years right? It reminds me of that anime series case closed. It’s still running in Japan at the moment. Also VJ, you heard of guess who the board game right? Is it similar to clue?
@Lou, I don’t even remember if my kids had Clue. Probably, but I was never big on that game myself. An old game named Careers was my favorite. You had to collect points for fame, money and happiness and mostly the way you got the points was getting experience or degrees in different occupations. I got my granddaughter the game and played it with her a couple of years ago.

Wow I.see, careers is similar to the game of life where you had to choose a career of your choice. I love that game. It’s so much fun and there is also a computer version of life for the kids now,.VJ. I think that game teaches us about life and our future, don’t you agree?
Yes, I agree, Lou. Cool games 🙂
I vaguely remember the board game, Go to the Head of the Class, such fun. I can visualize the cover of the box, but not much else about it.
I remember that one too, Rhonda. It was a lot of fun.
Well, did you know that Clue was also a movie, a musical, and a t.v. series?
