Jilana’s wager was a bit off. Had she gotten it wrong, and Steve correct, she would have lost by $1000. Since his max would have been $19,200, she just needed to wager $201.

Still, a good win for her. Unusually, she is a Second Chance player that doesn’t look like there was a reason they weren’t champion.

I blanked for a moment, but then got Final with much time to spare.

I haven’t looked to see if the producers are still going to have the winner of Celebrity Jeopardy! in the ToC. That will be a rude awakening for Ike, if he is in it!

If you like a 2-person horse race, this was the match for you. Jilana is a terrific player. Confident but not brash. Steve stuck with her until some faux pas late in the game.

Challenging FJ, which I knew cold, so it’s tough to say if someone who didn’t know it could have deduced it somehow. I clearly remember him winning both awards.

The army rations and the $1000 Invented First clue weren’t terribly tough. We visited those gardens on Vancouver Island in 1994. It was late on a summer day and it got dark before we could fully explore them.

VJ, I forgot all about the discussion we had on FF in 2016 about Bob Dylan. I said it back then and repeat “He deserved the Award.” I will also repeat what I’ve said over the years. If contestants study FF they stand a better chance on Jeopardy imo.

  4. Rick says:

Who would have ever thought that a singer would receive the Nobel Prize in Literature based on nothing but a song? In any case, I didn’t come up with the correct response.

    • Jason says:

It wasn’t just one song, though. It was his whole oeuvre, as it were. The Sex Pistols got into the R&R Hall of Fame on one album, but his breadth is much greater. I, personally, love “Tangled Up In Blue”. As Dylan said, “It was 10 years in the livin’, and 2 years in the writin’!”

If you haven’t read his speech, you should. Even not spoken, but read, it is good (and, ironically, that’s part of what it’s about). He didn’t go to the ceremony, and gave his speech 8 months later in front of a few members. If you don’t give the speech, you don’t get the prize, or the prize money.

  5. Kevin Cheng says:

John’s score at the end of Round 1 was -400. He really struggled throughout the game as he was in the negative for most of the game but so delighted to see him got out of the red so he could play FJ! Jilana currently remains undefeated after winning Second Chance last month.
