WHAT IS THE EIFFEL TOWER?
As Mayim explained, the Eiffel Tower became the world’s tallest manmade structure in 1889 and held that title until the Chrysler Building beat it in 1930. Reader’s Digest has 19 Mind-Blowing Eiffel Tower Facts. No. 3 explains how it ended up in Paris after being offered to Barcelona, Spain: “It just so happened that Paris was looking for a monumental, 300-meter-tall archway to serve as the entrance to their 1889 World’s Fair grounds, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. Eiffel and Co.’s design was picked among more than 100 competing submissions and construction began on January 28, 1887.”
Aisha bet it all and doubled her score to $24,200.
Matt bet $3,000 and finished with $30,500.
Michael also bet $3,000. That brought him up to $31,400. John Michael Higgins won the match and advances to the Semifinals. Aisha and Matt each won $30,000 for their charities.
