TWO of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT IS DENMARK?

Historically speaking, Greenland’s status as a Danish possession is quite complicated. Greenland is one of two autonomous territories within the Realm of Denmark. For a short look, here’s a timeline. For a much longer look, check out The Real Reason Denmark Owns Greenland on Grunge.com.

Geographically, the only thing the FJ! clue left out was the total area of the world’s largest island. That is 822,700 sq. miles, not only 50 times larger than Denmark, but more than twice the size of New Guinea, the world’s second largest island. As for the video I posted above, I just wanted to share my favorite Greenland folk song. When I saw the clue this morning, I started singing the “Oh, Greenland is a dreadful place” line (at 1:39). 😁

Holly went with the United Kingdom. (see U.K. territories by area) She didn’t bet a krone so she stayed at the $6,000 she started with.

Erin got it right. Her $8,200 bet brought her up to $19,200.

Jonathan got it right, too. He bet $1,500 and won the game with $22,100 and, with that, Jonathan went over the $200K mark. His 9-day total is $215,900.

There’s only one good way to take down a dominant champion. Hit the DDs and bet aggressively.
Erin bet only $1000 (out of $1800) on her first and only $1000 (out of $10K) on the 2nd when she had a slight lead. They weren’t cinches but were not difficult, either. If she could somehow have held the lead, she would have won, because the Final was relatively easy.

Good players tonight, but they left a lot on the table. I beat them on the 2 clues they missed in Epidemiology, the $16K and $2K clues in Spoken Words and the Sports Book clue on the basketball coach.

As anyone who has posted on this website over the years knows, I like to read press releases on long-term champions on Jeopardy out of curiosity. Jonathan graduated from Northwestern University and graduated from one of the top private high schools in Florida per his hometown TV station online. I’ve discovered that some champions like Jonathan are low key and don’t care to discuss their academic background during the chat. Perhaps they choose not to for several reasons. At any rate, Jonathan is no pushover as we have witnessed night after night. We are witnessing another repeat champion with a phenomenal memory. Congratulations Jonathan. Kudos to you.

I want to see Jon win 40 games and pass Matt amodio.

If I ever get on the show and have a big enough lead, and a clue asking about astrology comes up, like “As fall begins in North America, so does this zodiac sign”, I would answer, “Who cares?”

    • VJ says:

ha ha ha — I take it that was your least favorite clue today? At least “Who cares” is in proper form.

On separate days, I would have liked Word Puzzles and Familiar Sounding Trios, but I did not like them being on the same day

      • Lou says:

I also got the basketball coach clue and the meatloaf one. But too bad Erin didn’t know her. Good players today but still how much was the total amount left in the triple stumpers, VJ? And yes I also liked the Familiar Sounding Trios as well.

Will there be a tournament next month?

  6. Lou says:

Great to see Jon getting 200K today. Hopefully to see him sweep up this week. Good play by the ladies today as well and this is the second time to see a player stand Pat with the money earned. Can this happen for the third time tomorrow? I was hoping for Jon to do another true daily double but maybe it might occur tomorrow.
