Here are some more triple stumpers from the 1/7/2022 Jeopardy! game. Please don’t put the answers to these clues in the comments so people who missed the game can have a chance to answer them. It is okay to refer to them by category and clue value or by part of the clue.

the show is throwing cannon fodder at Amy, much like they were doing with Matt Amodio. they want streakers and that’s how they are ensuring it. maybe the ratings are declining and the producers are panicking after Trebek’s era. what they don’t understand is that almost daily runaways are tedious to watch. there is no worthy competition.
i have another theory. yesterday there were some worthy competitors. and they got off pretty well. then suddenly Amy started to dominate. maybe they rig the buzzing devices to make sure their preferred player buzzes in before anyone else.
the producers are in panic mode. why else would there be so many streakers in the first full season after Trebek when during his decades long reign it was thing of rarity?
what producers don’t understand is it is the true fans who will always watch the show, and not the rainy season toads that come out to watch a streaker and switch off the moment he/she loses.

Looney Toons theme song plays in background

Now, klm, do you see what I mean about how posting such an opinion does not promote a healthy debate. You’re not going to get an intelligent refutation… you’ll just get dismissed as “looney tunes.”

I just don’t want to see this kind of bickering over here. (For those who do, try Facebook and Twitter.) But, fwiw, I’ve seen the rigging and engineering accusations over the years every time a streaker shows up and imo, there are just too many variables for it to be true.

Cannon fodder? How would they know who is going to show up and beat the current champ? How could they possibly gauge a player’s stamina or when the old brain is going to say “no mas”? The number of games won by each champ since Matt is just too random to even entertain that notion:

Matt (38 games), Jonathan Fisher (11), Nancy Donehower (1), Tyler Rhodes (5), Tony Freitas (1), Sri Kompella (1), Kate Kohn (1), Dane Reighard (2), Andrew He (5), Amy (28 – still playing).

And how about the long streaks where we have no 5x champ? It’s funny that no one ever says they rig that. (I have seen it said about WoF though).

    • Rick says:

No, I can assure you that the Jeopardy game has always been above board. Actually, Amy has simply been spectacular.

    • Jacob Ska says:

It’s difficult for average people to comprehend that there are actually people who exist with phenomenal memories. Go Amy!

  2. Jacob Ska says:

Congratulations Amy on joining the Jeopardy Millionaire Club. Very rare air up there.

    Well deserved.

  3. Rick says:

Never heard of Heyerdahl in FJ.

  4. Michael says:

Done with Jeopardy! When the show books some real competition, I’ll start watching again. So boring.

  5. Albert says:

Lady Bird is a stupid name. If she had sons would they have been called Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, and Oscar the Grouch?

    • VJ says:

@Albert, maybe they would have gone with something like Eagle-Eye. That’s what jazz musician Don Cherry named his son. Eagle-Eye had a hit song in 1997 (it’s on the May 7th birthday list.)

Hmmm… Lady Bird was a popular First Lady. Charlie “Bird” Parker was an influential jazz musician. Maybe bird nicknames are really good, although in Eagle-Eye’s case, that is his real name. 😁

    • Howard says:

Her real name was Claudia Taylor, as I recall.
She and the president, and both their daughters, had the initials LBJ (Lynda Bird and Lucy Baines).

      • VJ says:

yes, Howard, funny thing about Lady Bird — there’s a Sporcle quiz on First Ladies’ first names and Claudia was one of the names I completely forgot! That amazed me because she’s one of the First Ladies who is not “before my time” 🤣🤣🤣

  6. Patty S. says:

    BRAVA.

  7. Jackson says:

Surprised she didn’t want a clean 50k today

  8. Lou says:

congrats to amy on breaking the million dollar mark! It took James a few games to break the million. So pretty soon, Amy could get to matt’s record but she has to get past James as well.

It’s been a while since Amy got 40K but still definitely looking forward to seeing how much further she can go.

  9. Kevin Cheng says:

Congratulations to Amy for becoming the fifth millionaire on Jeopardy and becoming the first female player to break the one million dollar mark.
