Laugh of the Day: In Writers Do Right, the $200 clue was: This British mystery maven described thallium poisoning so well in a book, a nurse recognized the symptoms in a child. I was trying to get the answer out quickest and it came out “Agatha Crispy.” 🤣🤣🤣 omg!!

We were cracking up. Now we’ll be saying her name that way for some time.

Erin was right on the material used in the cradle raft of baby Moses. Both papyrus and bulrushes are correct.

    U. 0f Arkansas, Division of Agriculture “Papyrus, or bullrush, (Cyperus papyrus) is a member of the nutsedge family.”

Concise Bible Dictionary: The little boat or cradle in which Moses was placed by his mother. It was made of bulrushes, or rather paper-reeds or papyrus which grew in the river Nile.
Unfortunately, that was a major error for Jeopardy. Amy is so good that it probably didn’t affect the ultimate winner of the game, but we will never know how the game would have gone if Erin was not set back so early in the game in dollars, confidence, and order of category selection. She should be invited back.

    • VJ says:

Jim, Erin’s answer was not accepted because papyrus only has one letter U. Bulrushes has 2, and the category was U2.

That was one tough final. I had a postage stamp commemorating the Columbian Exposition as a kid, many decades ago. Somehow I associated that with Chicago tonight, and deduced the Field from that.

Can’t blame her for making those large FJ bets–she’s been playing with “house money” for weeks–but eventually someone will stay within half of her game score and take her down on one of those Finals she’s tripping up on more and more frequently. There’s a rumor going around online that her end is near, because she appeared on GMA this morning.

It occurs to me that Amy Schneider has lost more money with wrong guesses in final jeopardy than most champions ever won.

  5. DC says:

Congratulations to another all-time great. The TOC will be star-studded. It’s interesting (to me at least) the prevalence of STEM backgrounds among the top tier of the Jeopardy HOF.

  6. Lou says:

Our first female champ winning over 30 games in jeopardy has got to be quite an accomplishment.

    • JP says:

I think “woman” would be preferable to “female” in this case. This is not meant to be a disparaging remark. Amy appears to be very happy and I’m happy for her, in every way.

      Game 39. Matt had 38.
