WHAT IS AN L?
The LAist website has a collection of pranks involving the famous HOLLYWOOD sign from 1976 to 2017, including 4 pranks in 1987: The first one in April involved the Fox network’s launch of their primetime programming. In May, Caltech seniors altered the sign to spell CALTECH. In July, the H was covered up, making the sign read OLLYWOOD to mock Oliver North and the Iran-Contra Affair.
In September 1987, in anticipation of a visit to the City of Angels by Pope John Paul II, pranksters covered up one L to make the sign read HOLYWOOD. The pontiff didn’t actually get to see the prankster’s handiwork that day because authorities cleaned it up before his motorcade began. Check out the other Hollywood sign pranks here.
Sharon got it right. She bet $1,000 and finished with $6,800.
Sophia picked the Hollywood sign, the landmark and not the letter. That cost her $14,201 and left her with $399.
Michael went with the O. He only lost $500 and won the game with the remaining $28,300. Michael Cavaliere advances to the finals.

Harvard kids can’t read.
Got all 3 DDs and FJ–an extreme rarity. Stumpers were another story, other than the Victory Tour group and the Cruise movie (which someone should have cashed in on once the answer was blurted out too late).
My friend Sharon didn’t stand much of a chance. The other two were super quick and knowledgeable. But she got an expenses-paid trip to LA and $3K for her troubles, on top of the $2K she won first time around. (By contrast, I paid my own expenses, finished a close 2nd and got nothing.)
Wow – heartbreaking. Sophia would have won, were it not for that Cliff Clavin-esque response. That’s going to haunt her for a long time.
Still, a good game.
Has the show ever had the same category for FJ two days in a row before?
