Eagles Lose Their First of the Season
The Philadelphia Eagles had a seemingly comfortable 14 point lead going into the fourth quarter of their game with the visiting Denver Broncos on October 5th. But the Broncos had other ideas.
Denver QB Bo Nix led three scoring drives worth 18 points in the final quarter—a touchdown, a touchdown with a two point conversion, and a field goal—while Philadelphia was shut down on offense and the Broncos had a come from behind 21-17 road victory over the defending Super Bowl champs. Nix completed 24 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown pass to Evan Engram. J.K. Dobbins rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown. Jalen Hurts completed 23 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns, but the Eagles’ QB was sacked six times. Saquon Barkley caught one of the TD passes, but he rushed just six times for 30 yards, 17 of which came on one run.
Philadelphia is now 4-1 and will next play at the New York Giants on October 9th. Denver is 3-2 and will head to London to play the New York Jets on October 12th. No unbeaten teams remain in the NFL, as the Buffalo Bills (4-1) lost at home to the New England Patriots (3-2) 23-20.
