Derek Jeter Makes Sure Young Fan Gets a Baseball

The farewell tour for Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter began in Houston with a three game series against the Astros.  The Yankees dropped the first two games, but won the third game 4-2 due in part to an RBI single by Jeter. But that wasn’t what one young fan will remember about this game.

After the final out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Jeter spotted a girl in the stands wearing a Derek Jeter jersey and carrying a sign. He went over to the stands to give her the baseball from the final out of the inning, and made sure she got it despite an adult trying to take it:

Now really, did that woman wearing an Astros shirt think she was the one who was supposed to get the ball?
