Chiefs Clinch #1 Seed in AFC; Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Sets QB Rushing Record
The NFL played a pair of rare Wednesday games in Week 17, in an attempt to establish themselves on Christmas Day no matter what day of the week it is. However, if you were looking forward to watching football instead of talking to your relatives, you were out of luck unless you have Netflix as that streaming service purchased the television rights to both games.
In Pittsburgh, the Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs battled it out. The Steelers are running neck and neck with Baltimore for the lead in the AFC North while the Chiefs went into action hoping to clinch the AFC top seed and a first round bye in the playoffs.
It was mission accomplished for Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns as the Chiefs torched the Steelers 29-10. Kansas City jumped off to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter, and although the Steelers got to within six points in the third, the Chiefs had another 13 point quarter in the fourth to close it out at 29-10. Kansas City has squeaked by in several of its victories, but this one was dominant, and the Chiefs (15-1) are rounding into form at the right time. The Steelers (10-6) on the other hand, have dropped three in a row and are slumping at the wrong time, although they have clinched a playoff berth.

But Pittsburg has also dropped into second place in the AFC North. The Baltimore Ravens improved to 11-5 and took over sole possession of 1st place in the North with a 31-2 rout of the Texans in Houston. Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another. Jackson rushed for 87 yards, giving him a total of 6110 career rushing yards, breaking the record set by Michael Vick of 6109.
