Celtics Beat Lakers for 10th Straight Win

So far, the addition of Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics is working out well. Boston hosted the Los Angeles Lakers on November 8th, and Celtics came away with a 107-96 victory. It was the tenth straight win for Boston, and the Celtics’ 10-2 record is the best in the NBA so far in this young season.

Irving, who came over from Cleveland in a big off season trade for Isaiah Thomas, didn’t have his finest game, going 0-7 from three point range but he still scored 19 points and had five assists and six rebounds. He’s averaging 22 points per game, almost exactly as his career average of 21.6 ppg, as are his assists per game (5.6 this season, 5.7 career) and rebounds per game (3.3, 3.4). So statistically speaking, the Celtics should be satisfied with Irving so far. The fact that Boston allows opponents just 94.6 points per game, best in the NBA, should not be overlooked as a big factor in the team’s early season success.

As for Thomas, the Cavaliers are still waiting for him to recover from a hip injury that has kept him out all season. The Cavaliers are looking at maybe having him back by the end of December.
