WHAT IS “THE BUTLER DID IT”?

TV Tropes has some interesting info on “the butler did it”, indicating that it’s so well-known, writers need to avoid it (although tonight’s results would seem to indicate it’s not as well-known as they think). The article also says that despite the common belief that mystery author Mary Roberts Rinehart coined the expression in “The Door”(1930), the plot was nothing new and was already considered trite.

Lisa Ann got it right. She bet it all and doubled her score to $27,500.

Katie had “the doctor is in”. She bet and lost her whole $19,500.

Mo wrote “I’m so sorry”. He lost $20,000 and finished with $1,100. So Lisa Ann Walter won the million dollars for her charity and a trophy. Mo’s charity will get $250,000 and $100,000 goes to Katie’s charity. As Ken said, they are all winners and that goes for all the celebrities who participated in this tournament for the benefit of charity.
