Buffalo Sabres Win 11th in 12 Games

The Buffalo Sabres haven’t had a whole lot of success in recent years; in fact, their last post season appearance was in the 2010-11 season, when they lost in the conference quarterfinals. The Sabres were starting out this season in, for them, typical fashion, with a 11-14-4 record through December 8th. But since then, they’ve put together a nice winning streak.

On January 6th, Buffalo nearly blew a four goal lead against the Vancouver Canucks, but ended up with a 5-3 victory and a sweep of the two game regular season series between the two. It was also the Sabres’ 11th win in 12 games. Buffalo’s record improved to 22-15-4, or 48 points, which is just one point behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final Wild Card playoff position in the NHL Eastern Conference. With half the season to go, the Sabres are giving their long suffering fans at least a reasonable hope of reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
