Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. Hits Grand Slam Home Run on His Wedding Day

The Atlanta Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. had a busy August 31st. In the morning, the Braves right fielder got married prior to the start of a big four game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta leads the N.L East and has the best record in the National League. The Dodgers have the second best record and lead the N.L. West. Then in the game’s second inning, Acuna Jr. hit a grand slam home run, one of his three hits on the day, which raised his batting average to .337, third best in the National League.

But the home run had an additional significance. It was his 30th of the season, plus he has 62 stolen bases, including one in this game. Acuna Jr. became the first player in major league history to hit 30 home runs and have 60 stolen bases in the same season.

Atlanta beat Los Angeles 8-7 to even their season series at 2-2. They’ll play three more this weekend.
