Boston Bruins Look to Keep Momentum Going

The National Hockey League season resumes January 30th following the All Star Break, and the Boston Bruins hope the break doesn’t stop their momentum. The Bruins were the hottest team in the NHL going into the break, with a record of 14-0-4 over their last 18 game, including five victories in a row. The hot streak put the Bruins into second place in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. Boston is 29-10-8 (66 points) and trails Tampa Bay (34-12-3) by four points.

The Bruins are keeping their opponents shots out of the net, allowing a league best 2.4 goals per game. Goalie Tuukka Rask got off to an un Rask like record of 3-8-2 out of the gate but has slammed the door since then, going 16-0-2. Rask has a 2.16 goals against average, third in the league. The defense is stopping power plays at an 83.8 percent rate. On the other end of the ice, the Bruins are averaging 3.3 goals per game, fourth in the league. Brad Marchand leads the team in both goals (21) and assists (29) but is in the midst of a five game suspension for elbowing New Jersey’s Marcus Johansson on January 23rd.

The Bruins will host Anaheim to restart the season on January 30th. If you are looking ahead to the next game with Tampa Bay, you’ll have to wait until March 17th. That game is in Tampa; as is another one on April 3rd. The Bruins will host the Lightning on March 29th.

Here’s some highlights from the Bruins’ win over Ottawa on January 25th.
