American Idol: Familiar Faces on Judge Panel
Despite a season with lowest ratings ever, American Idol is giving it another go, and the upcoming season’s judge line-up has now been officially confirmed.
Country singer, Keith Urban will be the only judge returning from last season. Singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez, who was a well-liked judge in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, will be returning. Crooner, Harry Connick Jr., who was previously an excellent mentor on the show, will be the third judge.
These are all great choices in that all of these judges were helpful and caring in their roles on the show, although it may be a disappointment to those who like the fireworks, like those Mariah Carey – Nicki Minaj feuds.
Although Randy Jackson has left the judges’ panel, he will be returning to take on the role of Jimmy Iovine. And, of course, Ryan Seacrest will continue to host.
Will this be magic panel that puts new life into American Idol, or will it be the show’s swan song for real? Time will tell. The new season will begin in January.
