Amanda Knox Cleared by Italy’s Top Court

Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were once again acquitted of murder charges in Italy on Friday, March 27th, after their previously overturned conviction was reinstated in February of 2014.

Originally convicted in 2009 as co-conspirators in the murder of Knox’s roommate, Meredith Kerchner, the conviction was overturned in 2011 and Knox was released from jail and sent back home to America. In 2014, Italian prosecutors were able to get the convictions reinstated, claiming they had evidence that had been omitted in their appeal. Whatever they had, it was not enough for Italy’s Supreme Court to uphold the conviction and Knox and Sollecito were cleared.

Knox said in a statement saying she was “tremendously relieved and grateful” about the decision.

Rudy Guede, who was convicted of Kerchner’s murder is serving a 16-year prison sentence.

I’m glad this whole saga is over. I must say, however, there’s something about her eyes and facial expressions when she’s talking that gives me the creeps.

LOL I never noticed that, but the doggedness of the prosecutors over there reminded me of a case I saw on TV once, where a prosecutor was trying to convict a woman of having a baby and then killing it, even though he didn’t have a body and she was incapable of having a child! The latter fact was proven to this guy and he still insisted she did it. Yikes!

WTH??!! I see what you mean but, frankly, though anyone is innocent until proven guilty — which the Italian prosecutors couldn’t in her case… to me, she seems to be hiding something. I’m not saying I believe she is the killer, just that she knows more than she’s leading us to believe. But we’ll never know.
