Albert Pujols Hits Three Home Runs, Passes Mike Schmidt for 15th All Time

The Los Angeles Angels of Disneyland are hot right now, sweeping a doubleheader from the Boston Red Sox 11-1 and 7-3 on July 20th for their 14tth and 15th wins out of their last 18 games. Albert Pujols continues to be a big part of the first place Angels’ surge as he goes through his own renaissance season. Pujols hit one home run in the first game of the doubleheader and two in the second game, giving him a major league leading 29 for the season. He also passed the Philadelphia Phillies’ Mike Schmidt for 15th place on the all time list. Pujols now has 549 home runs.

Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt played from 1972 through 1989 with the Phillies and won 10 Gold Gloves for his defensive skills at third base. He was the National League Most Valuable Player in 1980, 1981, and 1986. He hit .381 with two homers and seven RBIs in the 1980 World Series , the first World Series championship in Phillies history. For some reason, they stilled booed him in Philadelphia. But then again, it is said Philadelphia fans would boo Santa Clause.
