After Two Months, Rockies Finally Win 10th Game of the Season
Hunter Goodman hit a pair of home runs and drove in three to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 6-4 win over the Marlins in Miami on June 2nd. And with that, Colorado won its 10th game of the 2025 baseball season, approximately two months into the campaign. The Rockies stood at 10-50 after the win, the worst 60 game start in major league history, breaking the old record of 11-49 set by the 1904 Washington Senators and equaled by the 1932 Boston Red Sox. This year’s flirtation with futility has a chance to be even worse than last year’s Chicago White Sox, who finished at 41-121, which is the record for most losses in a 162 game season.
The win snapped Colorado’s latest eight game losing streak. They’ve already had four of them. The aforementioned Goodman is one of the few bright spots in a really bad offense. He leads the team with a .273 average, nine homers and 34 RBIs. The club as a whole is hitting .217, lowest in the majors, and its OPS of .633 is second worst, and they’ve scored the fewest runs at 190. The Rockies have scored an astonishing 183 fewer runs than their opponents this season. The pitching stats are also frightening. Kyle Freeland has the best ERA among the starters at 5.72. He’s also 0-8 on the season. Antonio Senzatela is 1-10 with a 7.14 ERA in 12 starts.
Colorado is 26 games behind the NL West leading Dodgers, and 23 ½ games behind the final Wild Card berth. Sports fans in Denver are probably looking forward to the Broncos NFL regular season opener against the Tennessee Titans, which is just three months away on September 7th.
