WH0 IS THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE?
From the White House Historical Association: “On September 7, 1825, a tearful Marquis de Lafayette embraced President John Quincy Adams after delivering a farewell speech at the entrance to the White House. The ceremony signified the end of the famed Frenchman’s triumphant return to the United States from 1824 to 1825. This visit inspired patriotic celebrations and expressions across a young country during the waning days of the ‘Era of Good Feelings.’ Originally intended as a four-month tour, the general’s visit soon stretched into a thirteen-month journey to all twenty-four states.” The Revolutionary War hero brought along his son, George Washington Motier de Lafayette.

Would the response, “Who is Lafayette?” been accepted? Or do you think the full name, Marquis de Lafayette, was necessary for a correct response? Thanks in advance.
@Kevin, I think “Who is Lafayette” would have been fine
Regarding the final question, I thought it might have been Jackson, Indiana (named after Andrew Jackson). Well, perhaps it wasn’t a bad guess though.
I had jackson also.
Jackson was a better guess than mine — I picked Tippecanoe for President William Henry Harrison’s nickname, but that was putting the cart before the horse. He was the hero of the Battle of Tippecanoe but the site of the battle (and other places) had the name before he got the nickname. The city of Lafayette is the county seat of Tippecanoe County
LOL! I’m enjoying this winning streak Jonathan is having. The runaway games show how good he is on the buzzer and his broad range of knowledge.
I used to live in west lafayette which is very close to Lafayette, Indiana. This final jeopardy tells me that I should visit it soon whenever I get a chance to do so with my family. But still congrats to Jon on winning game 6 and now he has tied with Zack Newkirk and has a little more money than him. Speaking of Gary, our last trip from Chicago passed through that steel mill over there in 2002. It brings back so many memories.
Not surprised that only one person got this one.
