WHAT IS PRUSSIA?

France had been the leading military power on the European continent until her 1871 defeat by Prussia. When German unification followed, military mastermind Otto von Bismarck became united Germany’s first chancellor. From Encyclopedia Britannica: “Germany’s defeat at the end of World War I and the overthrow of the empire and the Prussian monarchy also ended Prussia’s supremacy. Prussia…became a Land under the Weimar Republic, with more-restricted powers than before and with little influence on the government of the Reich. After the rise to power of Adolf Hitler in 1933, the Prussian constitution was set aside and the legislature abolished, though Prussia remained a unit for administrative purposes.”

After Germany’s 1945 defeat in World War II, “Northern East Prussia was annexed by the Soviet Union; the rest of the Land east of the Oder-Neisse Line was transferred to Poland; and the remainder was divided between the Soviet, British, and French zones of occupation. One of the few acts of the Allied Control Council was the formal abolition of Prussia on February 25, 1947.”

Jong Ho got it right. He bet $8,000 and finished with $19,200.

Katie wrote down Bavaria. That cost her $10,801 and left her with $799.

Will also got it right. He bet $10,301 and won the game with $23,201. Will Satterwhite is the first finalist.

The players struggled on the Daily Doubles, but those players affected (Jong Ho & Will) got Final right and Will is the 1st Finalist. The last all-female semi-final game of a Teachers Tournament was in 2018, just two years ago.

  2. Lou says:

We could have a woman in the finals just like what happened with the tournament of champions previously with James, Emma, and francois. This two day final could be similar to that.

  3. Richard Corliss says:

Great. So that’s it, then. No three females on Thursday and Friday.

    • William Weyser says:

But, as you know, we will have a woman in the Finals, because tomorrow, we have 3 Females playing in the 2nd Semi-Final Match… AGAIN! Those 3 women are Meggie Kwait, Amanda Baltimore & Jenna Hall. We may have the possibility of the 2-Day Finals being a 3rd Quarter-Final Game Rematch among all 3 players, and I could be wrong, but I don’t think that’s going to happen when we get to tomorrow’s game, because I’m a little worried about Jenna, even though she’s not my pick to win tomorrow’s Semi-Final Game. Both Meggie & Amanda, in their Quarter-Final Games, led throughout their entire matched, and once they had the lead, they never lost it. We shall see if 1 of them will do the same thing again, or if something different will happen.

I’m worried about Wednesday. Sam and Lauren will have to be very careful with Ben.
